Photographer’s Note

This shot was taken on my "school's out trip" in 2003 to Slovenia. Actually it took me half a night to catch this one. The thunderstorm moved very slowly across Adria and I expected it to be way faster. So I waited for more than 3h till it finally was as near as on the picture. The lights on the right is Triest on the italian coast infront of the Alps.
When you look very closely at the picture you can see the lightning coming out of the cloud again on the left part of the horizon right above the bouy.

I did no cropping, no color correction, no brightness correction, just some noise reduction and the framing

Hi there :o) Nice one Andreas, I love clouds, one of my favorite subjects, This one is very dramatic and surely worth the wait. is the big one on the right just on lightning or were there several in the 22 sec.

I really like it! The way everything seems blurry except the lightning really draws my eye to the lightning, and gives the whole scene a slightly dream-like quality. I also think the line of buoys really strengthens the composition.

you've really specialized yourself in capturing lightnings!
This one is nice, even it is light. and therefore the lightning is not standing out like on your nightshots, but then you have your nice sharp foreground with a lttle detail and colour

Holy guacamole! This is a lovely shot!
I really enjoy the smooth color that is all around this picture contrasting with the sharp lines that the lightning drew across the sky.
