This historical mining town, in which gold was extracted in the 11th century, is situated in the middle of the Kremnické Vrchy mountain range. The first written reference is from 1328, when the Hungary King Karl Robert awarded free royal town privileges to “Cremnychbana” . In 1329 the first silver coins, later golden coins “florens” started to be minted here. The ducats of Kremnica were among the most famous and sought after European means of payment of that time. It is the seat of the only mint in Slovakia, and you can find the Museum of Coins and Medals nearby. The most prominent building of the town is the Municipal Castle with double fortification and the oldest monument – the Roman rotunda from the 13th century. The central building – the Gothic Church of St. Catherine from the 15th century has an observation tower. The preserved city walls from the 14th century are formed by the Red and Black Bastions and the Down-Town Gate. The Trinity Column from the 18th century dominates the center of the square. The Renaissance and Gothic townsmen houses; the Gothic Town Hall from the 15th century and the Franciscan Church and Monastery from the 17th century are other interesting sites.

Hi George,

You took a very well angle from this wonderful picture, two towers on one picture, the statue in foreground are a wonderful master work, the church together with the houses beneath form a excellent composition, excellent quality!
Good colours and sharpness. Thanks for sharing.

Regards,
John.

Very good framing, excellent sharpness which gives plenty of details, many bright colors, a beautifull sky and a very strange and complicated monunemt. The tree on the left is perhaps not very usefull, but otherwise a really good picture.

All the best,

Emmanuel

George, the golden shine thin on the top of the monument is a gold object? I'm impressed with the size of this statue. The POV showing the people seated there, the tree and the tower gaves a nice perspective and ideia of the size!

Great colors and sharp.

Hugs
Andre

Dear George
Beautiful statue captured from your low POV looks excellent against the deep blue sky. Love the BG too especially of the church & the spire. Good work!

Angshu

Hi George - lovely town, I've never heard about it before, the architecture is charming, the placement of the sculpture was a good idea.

Hello George.
The angle of shot for the photographic taking of a statue, but is guessed right. You caught with your lens two works of art, different topics, sheltered by the beautiful intensity of a sky.
Seated people + the colorful thing of the houses, complete a beautiful composition Good work.
John

Hello! Good composition maybe just except this branch of tree on the left side of your picture. Nice POV and colors. You had very good weather for pictures in this very charming city. Good picture! Andrzej

Marci
