Photographer’s Note
Just north of Presov, quite near the Polish border, is the small town of Bardejov, famous for its highly decorated painted buildings. The tradition continues and many restored buildings have retained the original paint and plaster work. This was one of the more elaborate, though less well preserved ones. I like the way the spacing of the top row of windows is uneven, almost as if to accommodate the large mural. For the compo I debated for some time whether to crop the adjoining houses, and in the end decided that they work quite well as a frame.

Hi Richard - truly fantastic catch, not only is the ornately painted façade beautiful, the 2 houses on either side make a wonderful match, I'm glad you kept them, the only thing is the sagging cable which begs to be cloned out in photoshop.

An excellent shot of these "flaming" windows of this Bardejov house, Richard; I like how it is hoisted in between the two other colourful houses that do not have similar decorations but are so colourful. The entrance to the house is also lovely. I should visit this place one day!

Bonjour Richard,

Hi,
Lovely colours. This kind of buildings has a special charm, even if not so well preserved.
The other houses on the photo give it a right context, in my opinion.
Regards,
Krysia

Hello Richard,
What a nice place , it looks like an opera set. But if I were you I would have spent a few minutes in order to remove the black wire.
I like the way you framed the main building with the two others.

What a gorgeous house. I love this kind of medieval architecture. The colors are nice and I think it was a good idea to keep the other houses in the composition. I wonder if it would have been a good idea to crop the bottom part out (the ground) in order to have more of an abstract approach. Still a great photo. Good stuff.
This little town (which used to be part of the Hungarian kingdom, if I'm not wrong) is an architectural jewel. This house seems to be the best preserved, compared to the ones next to it, since it still displays original frescoes (although probably baroque/rococo) on it, even if they're quite warn out.
Regards,
Michael

Hello Richard
An amazingly colourful image in which you did well not to crop out the adjoining houses. The murals are so beautiful. I wish you could have rubbed away the sagging cable line
Great shot

Hi,
Very rich image. I think its a must to clone out the wire. Agree that the adjacent buildings act as a frame, but perhaps less of them would be better.
Have enjoyed browsing your extensive and diverse portfolio.
