This photo was taken from the Bratislavský hrad, the castle of Bratislava when I came over from Vienna for a day. It shows the view over the Danaube towards the southern suburb of Petrzalka. The title is the name of the road which goes from left to right through the photo.
When post processing this scanned photo I first worked on the color version and for fun I tried a B&W conversion because it was pretty colorless (cloudy), which wasn't a real succes. So I deceided to try a B&W conversion from start (my first real one) and this one is the result.

Hi Harko, I'm not quite sure if there is anything to be said regarding your PP. It looks perfect to me, but I'm not a B&W expert either. You're rigth that translating a color image simply by taking the color away is not the way to go, although quite tempting. At some critique at TE I found an interesting link to a web-page that dedicates some thougths and technique suggestions for the B&W conversion.
By the way, the post has a considerable tilt to the right.

A nice sharp shot showing great details especially on the row of buildings and the cars on the bridge. Well composed from a great point of view. I think that your black and white conversion came out well!

your B/W choice remindes me the socialist era in Slovakia (former Czechoslovakia) - the life seemed gray or B/W like your photo :(
