I posted lately some photos "with people" from Vienna, now three postcards from its neighboring city on Danube - Bratislava. In the evening, after the whole day sightseeing I went to UFO - in 45 seconds, you can get to the very top of the restaurant by an elevator, where an open-air outlook place is situated. From the height of 95m you can enjoy beautiful view.
UFO tower has been built just above the New Bridge, which is actually the 7th largest hanging bridge in the world and incredibly shapes the panorama of Bratislava. It was built in the 70s and has been voted to be the building of the century in Slovakia. In 2005, the restaurant was reopened and the new open-air outlook place and two modern bars were added.
I spent there almost two hours waiting for a night shot. I went to the viewing platform, then back to bar, back to platform, and so on. But the day is so long in May. And there is fabulous toilet there. Maybe I will post a photo later. Specially the male toilet is regarded as the best in world (I have read in Google). I saw only one for ladies, also very nice :). You can guess that I have the same view in different light, see Workshops. Strange enough, there are no photos from this tower on TE. (As well, no photos from this toilet :))
Here is beta version.
View in the night
View later (I uploaded wrong one).

A splendid postcard from Bratislava with much to see and all under a delicious evening light. The bridge makes an excellent lead-line. I look forward to your pictures of the ladies' toilet, must be something:-)

Good saturation! ;) I like this picturesque cityscape of the Slovakian capital. We were here in 2001 and I can say this is the same city, without big changes. Your point of view reminds me the Karlson's flights. ;)
All the best wishes,

Looking forward to seeing the toilet

Bratislava looks like a nice city. Maybe I should consider going there. Now I know where to find the best view, and the best toilet. The warm evening colours are really beautiful.

Spectacular panorama over the city. I like the depth created by the in-going street. Well taken.

I specially enjoyed the chosen pov giving us a general view of that beautiful place. I also liked very much the composition, placing the sea in the lower fg and in the upper bg the city of Bratislava. Everything created a very attractive image.

Good evening Malgo,
Fine all three posts from the tower, over the town that it's red roof-tops are most notable contrast to green.
The Danube and cruise boat added good perspective to understand and comprehend the overwhall sight.

It's a beautiful postcard, taken from a vintage POV and taking advantage of the light of the end of the day, that "warms" the all image.
parvatibb (1387) 2014-08-07 12:09
Love the contrast between orange rooftops and greens emphasized the soft light. A great postcard.
Did you ever have the change to visit Hancock Tower in Chicago? At the 94th floor there is a café. The first time I went there I could not believe the view from the restrooms
PS: I understand your Russia trip will be very adventures than us. I can’t wait to listen.

Ha! Ha! Malgo, I can just imagine you trying to get a photograph of the male toilet! You would have become quite a celebrity!!
I once took a shot of the male toilets in Rudesheim, because it was decorated with amusing, cartoon tiles. My husband and a friend told me when there was no-one in, so I could sneak in to enjoy the humour!
I like the evening light which has brought extra colour, especially to the red, tiled roofs.
The bridge is very useful in making a natural lead across the water to the town. It's a bit like crossing a drawbridge!
My kind regards,

You have captured very nice early evening lighting here yielding warm hues for the scene. The bridge leads the eye into the shot perfectly.

le foto sono tutte molto belle, mi piace molto quella notturna, ma sicuramente, la cosa più interessante, sono le notizie sulla toilette, per chi viaggia sono sempre delle ottime informazioni :)

What?!! You stayed in one place for two hours...is that a record? :) Your patience sure paid off, this is a lovely view over the city, and perfectly timed to catch the early evening glow as it paints the landscape far below. So many neat details to look upon from this height, and you've put together a fine collection in this one frame. Beautiful "blue hour" shot also. Rich in colors and soothing atmosphere, thanks for making your way to the top to share this view. Enjoy the new day. Take care.
Friendly wishes from the Az. boy,

Ta position surélevée t'a permis d'obtenir de belles vues générales de la ville (de jour et de nuit).
On attend avec impatience la photo des toilettes :)

pocztowka jest bardzo ladna. I te w WS rowniez. Fajne POV mialas, duzo zmiescilo sie w kadrach. Wprawdzie przez Bratyslawe tylko przejezdzalem ale ten zamek byl z pociagu dobrze widoczny.

A pretty picture, of this city on the Danube, which we can see some of its most prominent buildings, red roofs contrast with the abundance of green in it.
An image to enjoy with its beautiful color, high brightness and perfect sharpness.

Very eye catching skyline aided by the golden glow of the evening sky, a delightful low lying city scape blessed by subtle clarity, bright colours and superb contrast. The composition and viewpoint are pleasant and bridge provide an effective link and leads. Lovely and for me it ranks up there as one of your best works. Superb capture, tfs

Splendid view of the charming city of Bratislava, which I visited a couple of months ago myself. I failed to visit the UFO though, choosing only the Castle as my vantage point of the city. I love the sunlight and the warm colours of the roofs of the city.
photographer_sg (4402) 2014-08-09 11:16
This is a really spectacular view of the city with a great pov and all the excellent photo qualities. The lovely evening light has added great charm to this view and the wide and expansive view is filled with superb details.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice weekend.
macjake (57074) 2014-08-10 9:06
so whats all this talk about the TOILET???
now you really have me curious.
I'll be honest, Slovakia is one of those countries where i don't think many Canadians really know much about it. Similar to Poland in that way. Unless of course you have family living abroad there.
your time up here was worth it in my opinion...but of course i think that way b/c i love towers and tower viewpoints.
looks like there's been a remodeling of a Castle on the left, and the town looks great with the red rooftops on the right.
wonderful pov, worth the wait.

I will have to check out the view from the gents when I am there tomorrow! Kracow was fun although Auschwitz was depressing. I like the sunset orange colour contrasting agsinst the portions of blue sky at right. Good sharpness and an amusing note. That sure is a very long ferry boat at right of the bridge! Tfs!
