Danas Srbi slavi Svetog Nikolu, pola ljudi slavi a pola ljudi ide u goste.
Sveti Nikola, Nikola Mirlikijski (grc. Νικόλαος — Nikolaos; oko 270 — 6. decembar 343), poznat i kao Sveti Nikola Cudotvorac, bio je episkop Mire Likijske u Maloj Aziji (tada Rimsko carstvo, danasnja Turska).

Ziveo je u 4. veku u gradu Mira. Bio je poznat po tome sto je tajno davao ljudima novac. U citavom hriscanstvu se postuje kao svetitelj i cudotvorac. Sveti Nikola je zastitnik moreplovaca, trgovaca, strelaca, dece, i studenata po celom hriscanskom svetu: na Istoku i na Zapadu. Zastitnik je i drzavama Grckoj, Rusiji i Srbiji. Sveti Nikola, odnosno Nikoljdan je kod Srba slava sa najvecim brojem svecara.

Sveti Nikola, Nikola Mirlikijski (Greek Νικόλαος - Nikolaos, about 270 - 6 December 343), also known as Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, he was Bishop of Lycia in the Mire Asia Minor (then the Roman Empire, present-day Turkey).

He lived in the 4th century in the city of peace. He was known for having secretly giving people money. Throughout Christianity is respected as a saint and miracle worker. St. Nicholas is the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, children, and students all over the Christian world: the East and the West. Protector of the countries Greece, Russia and Serbia. St. Nicholas, and St. Nicholas is the Serbs celebrated with the highest number of celebrants.
