Photographer's Note

Travels on the Silk Road:
A quick shot from the train inside the Сићевачка клисура (=Sićevačka klisura) in Serbia (see "Map: View"). The gorge of the Nišava river leads to Bulgaria and its capital, Sofia.

You can still travel with some kind of "Orient Express" from Paris to Istanbul, but things have changed since the time of steam traction; you have to change trains in several countries. Comfort is limited. Buying a through-ticket including reservations is not easy. The best part of the trip for me was the arrival at the famous Sirkeci Garı in Istanbul, the railway station built in 1888 for the Orient Express!
