Photographer’s Note
Another photo from my travels in the 1970s.
We passed this happy group as we travelled through the former Yugoslavia. I believe they were drinking Slivovitz (Plum Brandy).
A scan from a kodachrome slide.

Hello Marlene,
A today's photo would have better sharpness but this scene is really outstanding. So spontaneous and joyful and perfectly composed. Reminds me of the carnavalesque atmosphere in some of today's Serbian film movies.

Hi Megan, this photo made me really laugh out loud. you've captured the revelry perfectly. That Slivovitz is a killer, my friend's dad nearly went blind drinking it! Anyway, what a decisive moment. I'm sure it brings back many happy memories for you too. Kind regards, Lisa.

Hello Marlene,
This is a shot of pure joy, well OK, maybe not so much pure as...euhm...plain drunk!? Anyway, great document of times gone by, good scan quality, perfect format and frame. A very interesting upload.

Hi Marlene,
what a desicive moment of fraternity and joy! A great capture, it is still beautiful although it lacks sharpness. It makes me wonder what has become of all these people in the meantime. TFS!
Warm regards

Hello Marlene,
wow, that's an excellent photo! It has "a lot of good mood" (may I say so?) let alone the good composition! I like it very much. The only thing I would correct is the sharpness... maybe it could be sharpened a little more. But on the whole - very nice, very pleasant impression!
I would also add this photo to one more category: "decisive moment" :)
Best regards,
Elena

Hi Marlene,
Joys of alcohol... Gives me nice feeling and somewhat thirsty. Which isn't that good for Monday afternoon. It's great that you show your archive gems here. There never isn't too much of it. I guess this could be from today too, even though there has been hard times in Kosovo.

Hello Marlene,
I haven't been very active lately, so I missed this photo by a few days. It's a good scan, where you seem to have found the very right colours. I am surprised that noone has compared this to the movies by Emir Kusturica, who has told us tales of happily drunk Yugoslav villagers for many years. And you managed to keep the left horse's nose just inside the frame.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Marlene,
I have to laugh, great photo of a group of Albanians (traditional white cap -keče). Old good times.
Thanks!

Hi Marlene.
What a long-lost beauty this is!
What it lacks in sharpness after all these years, it makes up for in its pleasing light and just the joie de vivre of the scene. A really pleasing candid and spontaneous scene which you've cropped really well. The colours and the light are so mellow, as if aged in oak or something. Terrific upload from the long ago.

Andrew

even being an old image the sharpness isn't so bad. I liked the pov and the framing, the group is nicely shown. I liked the light and the subject too. seeing this image we can think about each one , what happened with their lives after so many wars..
hugs
