Photographer’s Note

Roman Catholic Parish Church of the Name of Mary’s
was built in 1895, according to the design of György Molnár. Citizens of Novi Sad call it the cathedral because of its monumentality, although the cathedra (as a seat of Roman Catholic bishopric) for Bačka is in Subotica. Today’s church was built on the spot of a smaller one from 1742. It was built in Neo-Gothic style, with three naves and is beautifully decorated. On its 76m high tower, there is clock on all four sides.

One of the simbols of Novi Sad, neogothic structure built during the period of 1893 - 1895. is situated in the main center square of Novi Sad, Square of Freedom.

Cathedral has beautifull tall and thin shafts. It is recognisable by its tall closk tower, and vitrages made in Budapest... It has been built on the place of previous church from the mid 18 century and is devoted to st. Mary.

Past few months church was restorating.
