My partner-in-crime was craz...kind enough to lend me some of his equipment to try myself with it...going back to film after a couple of years with a digital is quite a task, but I do admit exciting too. I still can't get rid of the habit to look at the screen to check the result.
Here's one where I wanted to use one of the murals in my hometown. The building behind is, well, an ordinary residential building.
still in the phase of learning, so it's ok if you don't like it :/

fisheye is one of the most difficult lenses that I know, because it's dangerously easy to rely on the distorion to create effective photo, which simply does not happen that way. I've always thought that for fisheye you really have to think twice about the composition and subject, since the distortion can draw addention to most unexpected elements.
having said that, I'm happy to be among the first to say that THIS is a great shot, here the effect of the fisheye lense ADDS to the photo and strengthens the composition focusing on the looming wall the kid seems to be totally unaware of, I like it a lot. also, smart use of B&W, colours AND distortion would be too much here. excellent work, my compliments.
with best regards,

This is a very good picture! I like the effect here. Also you have done well with your timing as the girl on the bike is in a good position in the picture. I also like the black and white as well.
Overall, Very good!

wow, that´s what I call strong graphics. And black and white are the essences.

I have never used fisheye, but I do find your use of it excellent, not just to have the special effect, but your thought of the composition so that it all makes sense and gives it a super dynamic! Happy little girl in front of that mural representing adult world, great light and I could not imagine this in color. Compliments !

i belong to the category of folks who have never used a REAL fisheye, but i feel, it has worked fine here. the mood is of a little girl in the huge, imposing, flaming world... is that how you feel trying out the equipment of your cr... oops, KIND friend? ;)
a nice shot!

Puno pozdrava,

A great shot!
The effect which you give allows a real exchange between this little girl and its cycle and the wall behind, with this composition in curves and in roundness.
A very beautiful perfectly realized idea.
Have a nice WE

The fisheye effect is a little weird in photography.
I think this one here didn't needed it.
imagine the same scene with the girls shadow on the floor.
Wanda1 (14978) 2008-06-06 23:22
The fisheye gives a really cool effect to this shot and the cyclist passing by the mural was well timed. Vertical format works well to enhance the height of the wall, and black and white is the perfect medium for this great urban scene.

It workout really well here, escpecially on the abstract murals, and the girl on the bike seems to be riding on one of those ramp where they practice the freestyle bike or bike jumping thing. Great detail with good sharpness. It's absolute not okay to just like. I love it. Very artistic.
luisafonso (862) 2008-06-21 15:05
I like it a lot. A horizontal one wouldn't also be bad. Try to crop only the bottom third to imagine what I am thinking. B&W is perfect once again.
