Photographer's Note
Street scene from Trnski Odorovci, village in remote corner of south-east Serbia.
As other villages in poor mountainous areas of south and east Serbia, Trnski Odorovci also got depopulated in past few decades. Census for 1953. was 1279 inhabitants, while in 2002 only 184 people still lived there. Census for 2011 is still unknown, although locals claim there are no more than 50 people left living permanently.

Hello Marko,
thatīs the problem everywhere in the world. People who live in rural areas think that life in towns would be better. And people who live in cities want to move to the countryside because they think it would be romantic!
For me, who looks at this picture, it looks somehow romantic too. The little goats in the street, the man who doesnīt seem to know the word "stress". It looks like a photo of long gone days.
Those who remain in the villages are the old ones. But in this photo you can see that also young ones stayed - the lady in the back with her children.
To me, this image looks a bit dark. But I think that fits well because it tells a rather sad story.
Thanks for sharing!
Gisi
