Photographer's Note

Ljubica et Mile de Dvoriste. Ils se sont arretes gentiment et accepte poliment de se photographier. Comme ci c'etait le plus normal. Et m'ont demande si la photo pourrait etre utilisee sur leur tomb, un jour. A chaque question on disait OUI ce jour-la. Aujourd'hui je pense que la photo pourrait meme plaire aux Americains....

Ljubica i Mile iz Dvorista usrdno su stali da ih slikam, a onda su me i pitali da li slika može da posluži za njihov grob, jednog dana. U tom susretu svi odgovori bili su DA. Danas mislim da bi slika mogla da prija Amerikancima...

Hello Dear Branko,

It's been a very long time since I saw your excellent photos on Trekearth. This compelling photo is reminiscent of a famous primitive painting by the American painter, Grant Wood. It is known as American Gothic.

I wish you a New Year marked by health, happiness, prosperity and peace.

Hello Branko,
You have taken a wonderful photo of this hard-working elderly couple. They have such serious looks as they politely pose for you, like it is their duty to oblige. The surroundings are fascinating, and so is the woman's sweater. This is indeed a long distance from the trendy cafés of central Belgrade.

this is a wonderful double portrait. I like how the couple is posing for you; and the title you have chosen is also appropriate and very nice. I’d like to quote Mahatma Gandhi: "Love is the strongest force the world possesses and yet it is the humblest imaginable."

I keep coming back to this one Branco, it has that extra something that we all aspire to! A wonderful nostalgic capture that is complimented by lovely colours and composition. You can see that the old-timers are both caught in their memories, the looks have a mass of character but hints of smiles.I think you captured their expressions and emotions so well here and the way these proud folks are looking into your lens. Indeed a natural shot just as they are and we too are aging like them. They have witnessed enough life and mellowed gracefully like wine and the interaction of them lifts the shot even further. This image has lots of Character and Punch Fabulous. Well done
