Having two medieval castles placed on a perspective at close distance so that they seem able to communicate by waving hands is not something you see every day, well in San Marino they could even be three since in medieval times this small republic built three castles (Guaita, Cesta, Montale) on top of the Monte Titano to defend itself from potentially hostile Italy. But Montale was a bit far to try this and the day was very hot to get to the PoV of three if it exists at all, so I limited the view to these two only...

You can see different views of these castles in my earlier posts.

Hi Jean Yves, the deep blue sky is something of fantastic in this image, with high quality and perfect light, and a agreat view over the San marino's towers.
great shot.
ciao

Hello Jean-Yves,
Very good vertical composition with one architectural element leading naturally on to the next one with a little help from the intervening clouds. Perfect colours and clarity.

Hello Jean-Yves,

Bravo !

Hi Jean-Yves,
A good combination. I guess the other tower is not as far as it looks, it's the wide angle effect again. Really good light. Especially on the wall on the right. #D details show very well on that sidelight.

Jean of all your castle postings from your earlier posts I would have to say this one is by far the finest. You took some time to make sure the two castles were positioned inside the frame in the best possible way. I know how dramatic this 10-22 lens can be if you move only a fraction of an inch to create the composition. Also the vertical format makes this castle look amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Bonjour Jean Yves,

Salut Jean-Yves,
I like captures of castles, two is one extra bonus. Fine vertical but even wide capture presenting the possible tower to tower communication (ttc). Not knowing the regular weather conditions I must assume that foggy weather with less sight raised the fear in the hearts of the local inhabitants.

Great Jean Yves a fantastic composition and POV together with a great quality too , also interesting your note .

That must have been an amazing day up there in San Marino - I recall seeing some of your other photos from that day and like this one, they are stunning. The wide angle on the foreground castle is great, and the view of the second castle in the distance is very unusual and maybe even surreal. Fantastic shot!

JY,
I'm not quite sure how many posts you already presented of this tiny place of San Marino and still I can't have enough of it. You certainly had a wonderful weather at this day and the CPF did the rest to have such great contrast and colors. I just miss a little bit the human presence in there.
Regards, Peter

Hi Jean Yves,

Excellent point of view including two castles in one photo. Very nice composition, amazing colors, great light and good sharpness.

Have a nice weekend

Salut Jean-Yves,

Hi Jean Yves,
excellent POV from which you connect the two towers and provid a glimp of this fantastic view.

Salut Jean Yves, I have seen some other shots of SM from you, but not with two castles in one frame I think, somebody waving a (red?) flag on top would be a bonus of course, but I guess nowadays the castle dwellers would prefer internet as a means of communication in case of Italian advances uphill... :)

Cheers
Alexander

Bonsoir Jean Yves,
I like this very well saturated image.
You've built the composition so carefully to have the two castle views, without any disturbance between each other.
It's so enjoyable the bright light and the vivid contrast made by the green grass and the blues.
Felicitacions et merci du partager.
Mes amities,
JM

Hi Jean,
I stand in awe of all the amazing castles and outstanding architectural beauties you get to see in your travels. And what's more, your photographic expertise brings out the finest. Excellent shot here with incredible details and textures on this castle and beautifully set against the deep blue sky in this perfect vertical portrait perspective. Great work and TFS. Gerald

salut JY

Nikki

Hi Jean Yves!
Fantastic picture with magnificent well saturated colors making an excellent contrast to each other. The sharpness/depth of field couldn´t be better and I like your point of view.
The sky just looks amazing with those great clouds...(did you use a pole circular?).

In my eyes there´s nothing to improve here!
Regards,
Jonas

Salut Jean Yves,
this is beautiful a p erfect study in light and shadow with superb tones. The view looks very natural and the colours are attractive. Nice light and details to present this interesting image. The wall and the little tower on the left give a stunning depth and perspective to the view. Very good clarity. Bravo.
Kind Regards.
Stella

Salut Jean-Yves,
