Papagolfadina San Marinese Photo

Photographer’s Note

A second view of the "Serenissima Repubblica di San Marino" featuring the local Papagolfade situated at the north end of the overlooking position, this one was built in the early XIX th century over a pre existing church. The building is quite big in this tiny republic, which you can see cmparing it with the people in the front, and having a 24mm focal length possibility was for sure no luxury here, taken from an elevated garden position between the cathedral and the Guaita castle.

Hello Jean-Yves,

Très belle vue aérienne de cette place et de ce très beau monument ! Le point de vue assez élevé t'a permis de garder les verticales bien droites malgré la hauteur du batiment !
Je dirais presque qu'il y a un légéer tilt mais qui n'altère en rien la scène ! Ce Ricoh délivre des images aux couleurs très belles ! Un bon achat !

Hello PapagolfadeTerror,
j'vois que dans ton soucis du travail bien, tu ne pouvais t'empêcher d'aller à San Marino pour colorer un nouveau pays sur ta carte TE, même si le dit pays ne représente qu'un pixel sur cette même carte.
J'vois que tu fais aussi des infidélités à la marque rouge..... T'as raison, continue ! :)
Tu as trouver sans doute le meilleur POV pour prendre cette jolie église dans son ensemble, les quelques personnes donnent une idée de sa grandeur.

Good inclusion of the people to give scale to the building ... well composed. Amazing how they build these ancient buildings ... they seem to build them to last forever. Good to see they preserved this ancient building. Nice capture ... well done! tfs

You certianly found a great POV in order to show the magnificence of the church. Without the cross on the top it could be mistaken for some kind of secular building as it doesn't seem to conform to churchly architecture. The light seems very strong but you have managed that well. I agree with you that the people are a good addition for the scale.

ce POV bien choisi donne de la profondeur à la photo on voit que cette papa..machin..chose se situe en altitude.
C'est bien cadré et pas besoin de parler des lumières, elles sont nickel.
Les couleurs sont belles, certaines délicates.

A very interesting location and a good record of the architecture. It set me wondering about San Marino , where it is How it came about, who lives there etc. I see you have posted a previous picture from there, Jean Ives, I hope they will be more to come Regards kevin

Bonjour Jean Yves,

Magnifique composition dès ce très bon point of vue. C'est formidable comme les lignes sont tout droites avec 5 mm. LF. La présence des gens est magnifique pour considerer la taille de cette église, placée dans un lieu vraiment intéressant, à juger par ce que nous pouvons voir de l'arrière-plan. Belle photo de dimanche! Merci.

JY, certainly a very good POV and the right wide angle lens to get the whole Republic of San Marino in a single shot! A very nice view with your descriptive approach and I like the inclusion of the people very well.

i ve been to san marino but i dont remember seeing that church... strange of me... may be i was too young to care for these kinda stuff as i was an exchange student in italy then (in 93) and was with spanish friends (girls mostly>:)...) visiting rimini and san marino... i like the architecture of the church, seems like a combination of the greek features -with the corinthian pillars- and the romanesque elements... a beautiful shot taken from a good pov, congrats jean yves...

bonjour, Jean Yves, elle est batte cette compo bien équilibrée entre les deux somptueux bâtiments, ce PdV aussi à mi-hauteur (on s’met ou on peu pas vrai) cela donne un superbe résultat et l’on à l’impression d’y être,
une photo de qualité sur le plan des lumières et des couleurs, et ce, malgré que ce ne soit pas le devin EOS qui l’ai réalisé, et pourtant tous les détails de cette jolie architecture chargée d'histoire sont là et bien là, seul la teinte de ce bâtiment au multiple colonne sonne un peu carton pate (à la façon hollywoodienne) tellement l’endroit est imposant, bien amicalement

I like the high view of this, unusual and very effective. If you had taken this a ground level in front of the building then you would have had a very different angle on the building, with the distorted angles and distant view of the top. This shows the natural appearance of the building, and also has the benefit of showing the distant fields surrounding. Well done!

Il semble y avoir plusieurs points élevés à San Marino, permettant des angles de vue remarquables. Je pense évidemment à ton post précédent, où tu étais juché sur la palissade et cette fois encore, cette vue en plongée se distingue par un coup d’oeil intéressant et innatendu.

Cadrage au poil, non seulement sur l’église principale, mais aussi sur la toiture adjacente, qui ajoute quelques touches de couleurs avec ses tuiles typiques. Bonne inclusion des visiteurs, juste bien situés entre les branches pour une présence discrète, mais néanmoins enrichissante, ne serait-ce que pour l’évaluation des proportions.

Hello JY - it may lack the view of the other photo but the architecture is the attraction here, and the angle is just right, with a glimpse of the distant hills, I'm tempted to either stretch the lower right corner, or do a slight ccw rotation. (I opted for the former and tried a little ws)
