Serenissima Repubblica di San Marino (Most Serene Republic of San Marino) is one of the five micro states in Europe. It's situated some 10 kms (6 miles) inland from the coast of the Mediterranean Adriatic Sea and totally enclosed by Italy.
San Marino is the last remaining of the Italian city-states and is supposed to be founded in 301. Somehow it has managed to survive the Napoleonic Wars, the Italian unification, as well as both World Wars.
There's an urban legend saying that a state of war exists between Sweden and San Marino, due to some oversight at the negotiations after the Thirty Years' War. Or after the Napoleonic Wars. Contrary to popular belief, this is not true.
My photo shows the splendid view from San Marino City, over the municipality Chiesanuova, across the Italian border and into the hills of Emilia Romagna. A landscape just as beautiful as that of Tuscany.
San Marino is not a member of the European Union, but uses Euro as currency.

Hello Kaj, this is a very nice image. These hills are so beautiful. Good high POV that allows you to get the whole scenery. I can see myslef in that little pool, no doubt with a glass of Limoncello.

I like the high POV in this photo. We can really enjoy all the greenery and undulation of the landscape below. I also like the way you composed the shot, placing the deck in the lower left corner to break up the expanse of scenery. Nice depth, too.
