Photographer’s Note

This is a photo of the hospice ("arhondaric" or "arhondărie" in Romanian, from "arhondaríki" in Modern Greek) of Suzana Monastery.
Suzana is a nuns monastery in Prahova County, at about 70 km from Ploiesti, my home-city.
Arhondaric--a wing or special house of a monastery used to receive and shelter guests.
Hospice , n. [F., fr. L. hospitium hospitality, a place where strangers are entertained, fr. hospes stranger, guest. See Host a landlord.] A convent or monastery which is also a place of refuge or entertainment for travelers on some difficult road or pass, as in the Alps; as, the Hospice of the Great St. Bernard.

Hello Andreea,

A well composed presentation with clever use of light on the houses!
I notice some of the trees have thrown the leaves, indicating winter is coming...
The stone construction to the left is probably a well?

Hello Andrea,

A composition well balanced with a POV perpendicolar well selected. I like the very good managment of light (the hospice arise very well) and the colours of autumn in the BG.

nice the view of the cute building that is used as Arhondariki,indeed a Greek word for the hospitality of the Monasteries visitors.Are they provide Turkish delight and cold fresh water,as the Greek Monasteries? Informative your note.

This is a well composed shot with many points of interest across the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The background is nice with the autumn colors contrasted nicely by the blue sky.

Que lindo este mosteiro no meio destas montanhas cobertas de árvore, a sua arquitectura é magnifica muito bonitos os detalhes de madeira , gostei muito do contraste verde branco , bom enquadramento da foto , parabéns!!!

Very peaceful autumn scene with the beautiful monastery seen in lovely warm late day light that gives the whole scene a very peaceful glow.
Love the deep blue sky that contrast wonderfully with the autumn colors on the distant mountains.

I love your use of the light conditions. The sunlit houses look wonderful against shaded lawn and the brown trees on the mountain side. Also a really fine composition and very nice colours. TFS. I wish you a Happy and Prosperous 2009!
