Photographer's Note

This is a photo taken yesterday in a communist built district of Alba Iulia,called Chicago.I don't know why is called like
that,but i heard that here are the tough boys.As you can
see ,here is not a great lifestyle.
*Being in my hometown,sick,I found nothing else to do then rejudging this older photo.I think that the original was too heavily post-processed,too dark,the main subjects were not very well lightened staying somehow in the shadow,the colors too artificial,more like a deviant art photo.So I tried to obtain a more classic look,simple but not so disturbing.What do you think about that?

Bonjour horatiu, je pense que cette photo sans lumière est bonne pour ce sujet, un endroit plus ou moins sinistre, la tristesse même dans les vêtements de l'homme, simple,le linge qui sèche; beaucoup d'endroits encore comme celui-ci en Roumanie;

you constantly stay charming with these post-communist era districts... and you say they call it "chicago"... well - if this is an american dream...:-)))
daily life category all right but that little pigeon allows to classify the photo as "decisive moment", too i think... and there is a logical link between the man whose turned head indicated that he's looking at the bird... the laundry and the blocks in the background add additional dimension to this composition...

A rough area, yes. Not very flattering for the Ceausescu regime, but then I guess nothing was. In spite of the man, it's mainly the pigeon that makes this place look human.

Hi Horatiu, the original is indeed of less quality, specially the guy's face. I like this much more. It's a simple moment you caught, but made special but the guy looking back at the pigeon, and the very very drab environment. Not a great lifestyle, the neglected mood comes out very well. A good job and an important reminder of that time!
