A little bit of history about Oradea:

Oradea dates back to a small 10th century castle, while its bishopric was founded during the 11th century by King Ladislaus I of Hungary. The first documented mention of its name was in 1113 under the Latin name Varadinum. The city flourished during the 13th century. The Citadel of Oradea, the ruins of which remain today, was first mentioned in 1241 during the Mongol invasion. The 14th century one of the most prosperous period in the city's life. Statues of St. Stephen, Emeric and Ladislaus (before 1372) and the equestrian sculpture of St. Ladislaus (1390) erected in Oradea. St. Ladislaus' fabled statue was the first proto-renaissance public square equestrian in Europe. Bishop Andreas Báthori (1329-1345) rebuilt the cathedral in Gothic style. From that epoch dates also the Hermes, now preserved at Györ, which contains the skull of King Ladislaus, and which is a masterpiece of the Hungarian goldsmith's art.

In the picture:The City Hall(right) and The St.Ladislau Church(left).

The City Hall was built between 1902-1903. It was also projected by Rimanoczy Kalman. Lop-sided, the building is a real monument.

The Saint Ladislau Church was built after 1720 and it`s tower is built later during the last decade of the 18th century, in the late baroque style. The frescoes date from 1908 and they belong to the painter Tury Gyula.

Thank you and have a great weekend.

Dear Lucian BB!
Amazing picture.
Wonderful architecture.
Good perspective.
Nice take.
TFS!

Buna Lucian,
traesti intr-un oras foarte frumos. Imi place mult in ce mod sa dezvoltat Oradea in ultimi ani - mai in secret ca alte orase (Timisoara sau Sibu), dar cu substanta. Si e una din putine orase unde si natura are un loc in centru!
Numai bine, Johannes

Hallo Lucian!
A beautiful scnery (perhaps a little bit too much green in the foreground). The shown buildings really are worth to be shown here and you caught them in a wondeful light. Oradea seems to be a friendly place ... By the way - thanks for the excellent note!
Greetings from summerly Germany!
Frank

wow, yes, this is a really wonderful "postcard" from your city! :-) excellent pov and composition with the fresh green grass
and bushes and the river in the foreground leading the view to the beautiful and colorful architecture in the back.
superb job & best wishes, thor.

misto si asta - vezi ca a iesit bine pana la urma - ai obtinut si niste semi-diagonale/linii interesante - bine condusa privirea si corect redate culorile - sunt multumita :)

Hi Lucian,

Nice. A lot of history in your hometown and we can see.
I like how you combined it here with a little bit of nature.
Thanks for sharing!

Greetings, Dennis

Imi place
Numai bine

Salutari,
Cosmin

Lucian,
This is a very nice shot! I like the foliage in the foreground as a buildup for the shot. The angular position of the river creates a nice diagonal through the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.
TFS,
Asa

Imi place vederea si cum a compus-o.
numai bine,
Cristian
