Winter in Arieseni Photo

Photographer’s Note

Arieseni is a village in Alba region in Apuseni Mountains, Transilvania, Romania.

In this small ski resort there are two pistes, one for beginners and one for intermediate.

I only spent one day here.

Buna seara Lili
Deci ai fost la Arieseni...
Ce frumos e cerul...asa de albastru.O compozitie simpla si faina.Am si eu cateva fotografii din locul asta...dar era in octombrie.Sper sa mai ajung in iarna asta la Arieseni.

frumos ,o compozitie minimalista de mare efect.Si eu am fost
azi la Straja,am avut ghinionul sa ploua tocmai azi,este mai
frumoasa acea zona...mult mai pitoreasca...insa ca si infrastructura cu niciuna nu m-i 'rusine'.

Hi Liliana,
Nice shot of this interesting blue sky and black house. Your composition and POV are fine showing the cabin from an angle giving us nice depth and detail. The lighting and color are fine with excellent sharpness.

Original these buildings in a row but on an uneven level. Looks like they are following each others along a trail. The high sky helps.

Hi Lili,
Went home for thre holidays I see,luckily you had more snow than in Switzerland and equally nice winter blue sky, nice framing idea to leave much place to it but you sharpened too much, on my monitor the snow edge going uphill looks like stairs !

Beautiful panorama! I really like the POV, the composition, the colour of the sky and the contrast, the frame fits well the photo, so everything's together for a perfect picture!!! :)
Maybe it's just a bit oversharpened.

This austere scene, very beautifully composed, makes a truly compelling image. The line of sheds creates an interface between the pristine white of the snow, and the clear blue sky. The perspective, colors, resolution are all excellent.

Wonderful winter scene with the village in the middle of the snow covered mountain. Good POV, the blue sky produces a nice contrast with the white snow. Your composition is very good.

Marvellous composition. Though the ice looks lil' bleached on the FG but lovely sky more than compensates for he same. Picture has nie epth and great POV.

Huge vivid blue sky that I like very much. Charming little wooden houses and I particularly like the 3 small trees on the right. Very good contrasts and point of view. I prefer a little bit more the sepia version but that one is excellent too.

I think the point of view is what makes this image!
I like the line of houses that is different from the hilltop, and the division of the frame sky/land works well...
Bright snow is well exposed, and the sky is just sooo blue..!

Each time I'm visiting your gallery, you change your personal photo... This way, I feel I really know you and I could recognize you in a crowd of thousands... LOL!

It seems you have lost some details in the snow on the upper part of the hill, but looking at your sepia version, I can see you have all the information available, so the lost texture is probably due to your pp and extreme sharpening, rather than your original shot. Still, the effect is very pleasing with vivid colours and impeccable composition.

To allow such wide space for this big blue sky is brilliant and I like the fact that you've decided to frame the horizon on a line of third. Romanian winter at its best!

A nice compo according to the rule of thirds, with big sky which some people may say is 'too' big, but i think it gives a good impression of the small size of human activities and buildings, compared with the nature itself. Quality (colors, sharpness and expo.)is also good.

Ce albastru frumos! Imi place ca totusi se vad niste nori pe cer, nu numai un albastru fara informatie. Si expunerea este foarte buna, pastrand detaliile pe peretii intunecati ai caselor. Abundenta detaliilor pe zapada contrasteaza bine cu cerul mai uniform. Merci!

Hi Liliana,
This is very nice. I like the strong graphic effect created by the row of huts and the expanse of blue sky. From the thumbnail I thought it might have been too much empty sky but in fact it works really well and has a nicely balanced effect. The three trees leading over the horizon and out of the picture are also a nice touch.

what a lovely composition, the huts look like a barrier, perhaps between the two pistes. The colours are excellent and it's well exposed, something difficult to do when there is so much brightness. It's a simple but well thought out image, well done.
