aaa... clatiiiite... poate-mi amintesc sa fac dupa Craciun. mai fac din cand in cand dar foarte rar, de 2-3 ori pe an. imi plac mult dar uit sa fac.

Greg, you should write a note for this photo. I don't mean when and why you shot it, but put it in a larger context. For me... this reminds me of my childhood. In the young woman, I see a child enjoying every moment of his life while the mom... well, she's a mom. This is such a typical Romanian scene... or maybe not. Maybe it's just so familiar to me. Or, perhaps it is a typical scene for most Europeans, and not only, living in a small apartment.
I see this not as a daily life snapshot but as a snapshot of life itself. I see a feeling, not a set of objects and people.

TFS
Iulian

PS I looked back and I think is a good reply to flory's comment. I'm sure she'll love it.

Ha!looks delicious, love pancakes;)especially when are make it by my mother...mai ales cu gem de afine.
what can i tell you?obviously,is not a sad place.but in the other one,saw those faces, like you said in your answer.
happened to me here where people believe that is a sad image;)maybe, because that little girl found that unusual place to play.pity, that me i don't have another one to show where she lives...
is just the context;)
believe or not, after you answered me with 'sadness',wanted to make some pictures in this weekend and dedicate for you..
you know,Greg, sometimes, when i like very much an image, prefer just to look..and not 'spoiled' with words;)is not a rule.
the feelings could gives wrongly interpretations,hm..
thanks!if you don't know this yet,me,love your style in photography;)
take care,
Flory

hi greg ... another pancake fan here :) .. mie imi plac cel mai mult cu gem de caise sau branza dulce cu stafide sau ... cu branza (sarata) cu marar sau cu pasta de maciese sau ... ciuperci sau ... creier sau sa nu uit, cu carne si sos picant ... cred ca de fapt imi plac in multe feluri :))) (cred ca in fotografia ta clatitele sunt cu gem din ala gros de prune ... poate ca nu, dar mie asa mi se pare :)

i gladly subscribe to everything that iuli and flory wrote before me - this is such a familiar scenery, at least for a lot of eastern european living in similar places ... the kitchen so full of life - where everything happens :) - where is always 'something cooking' ... the best place/smells/scents to represent the spirit of family - the place where neighbours , uncles and friends are always welcomed to pop in - and no, of course it's not a sad place - how could it be? it's just life - as life is always everywhere - with good and bad.

but most of all - those pancakes - are not 'soul-less' supermarket-pancakes ... those pancakes are human-made ... mum-made - right then and there - especially for family and friends ... now if this doesn't mean anything? what does?

thanks, greg

dora

HalloGreg. Which for a beautiful, alive and photo worth seeing. It convinces by its naturalness, with which this motive for everyday life was photographed. It makes pleasures to regard this photo. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Dear Greg,
apart from the fact that this is a very fine photo you really made me smile with your kitchen metamorphosis - great idea! Johannes

my god! the hunger is a very terrifying thing....:P

Fantastic daily life scene, Greg, great moment captured, I wouldn't mind having one of these pancakes right now! :))

Cheers
Alexander

Bonjour Greg,

Lovely image, universal image I would say, as I felt the warmth of this atmosphere right after opening the thumbnail.
And as everybody gets water in his mouth, I should say give me the pancake "Suzette" with orange sauce and Grand Marnier... ;o)))

Greetings from Tholen & Amitiés - Viviane

* For the sauce:

4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
1 tablespoon Grand Marnier
Melt the butter in a large skillet. Add the sugar, orange zest and liqueur and mix well. As soon as the sugar is melted, add the crêpes by folding them in half and then folding them into quarters. Place all the crêpes in the skillet and let cook for 1 minute. Turn all the crêpes over and let cook for 30 seconds.
Remove the crêpes to a serving platter and pour the remaining sauce over the crêpes.
Enjoy!
Note: This recipe will yield 6-8 crêpes.
