Balea Lac – been there
Usually I do lots of landscapes. Almost embarrassing then to look into my photos posted form the TE meeting in Romania back in July and discover no classic landscape photo. I hope then that my version of the little lake in the alt.2000 m made of 3 photos HDR-treated can be accepted by the group of skilled photographers participating in this meeting.
This photo from Sunday morning at 09.15 just as the sun try to penetrate the morning mist – a cold morning with wind and only +4 deg celcius, later in the day as we arrived in the town Sibiu this had changed to +26 deg Celcius.
Let there be no question about the landscapes we passed through on our trip out of Bucharest to the region of Transylvania – it was a pleasure to explore and see all the changes from the big plain outside Bucharest to the high altitude mountains where Balea Lac was situated.

Balea Lac
is a glacier lake situated at 2034 m of altitude in the Făgăraş Mountains, in central Romania, in Sibiu County. There are two chalets opened all the year round, a meteorological station and a mountain rescue (Salvamont) station. It is accessible by car on the Transfăgărăşan road during the summer, and the rest of the year by a cable car from the "Bâlea Cascadă" chalet.

In 2006, the first ice hotel in Eastern Europe was built in the vicinity of the lake.

Hello Jack
What can i say...from my point of view...HDR it`s a great thing if it`s managed well...how you did in this presentation of your`s and i`m really glad that you didn`t enhaced colors or exposure to enhace the place, you presented it in the way he was that morning...misty and cold.As you...Balea Lake i saw it for the first time in my life and hope that you enjoy it like i did.Thank you.
My best regards and wish you a great weekend,

Hi, my friend!
It is very interesting view with strong colours. Nice composition. I like your all nature. Beautiful mountains and lake. Well done.
Marek

Hi Jack,
Judging by the deep blue color of the waters, this must be a deep lake. The mountain in the background looks stunning .... this place will look spectacular during winter. Good lighting and balanced contrasts. Well captured and composed with very good image quality. Well done! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Bonjour Jack,
Regards.
Daniel.

Hi Jack,

It's extremely beauty and intriguing this "dark" light! I love it. The mountains and the clouds are perfect, but the light over the water is simply magnificent! Very beautiful this dark mood! Thanks.

Have a nice sunday,
Angel.

regards:)

Hi Jack
That spots of light on the water sheet look beautiful. Clouds make dangerous, dark mood. TFS and congrats.
Jack

Hi Jack!
Very harsh, a bit depressing, but really impressive landscape. I like the dark tones, especially the almsot black colour of the water. Very nice shot!

Andreas

Hei Jack,

Flott stemnings bilde.

Lovely and mood filled photo. I really like the calm feel to this photo, yet the clouds give a feeling of pending storm. Very nicely captured. TFS.

Hello, Jack!
Very beautiful and little mysterious place, I think, thanks to the mists hanging over the peaks. I also like these bright reflections on the surface of the lake. Good job!
regards,
Greg

Hello Jack,

A very effective shot of the rugged landscape. It is remarkable that the temperature can vary by 22°C during the day (that is a 40°F variation for folks in the US). Except for the green growth, it looks like a b&w shot. The composition and resolution are very good. The ripples in the water are as sharp as obsedian glass.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hej Jack,
Beautiful view over the dark lake with the low clouds, it creates a very nice atmosphere. The mountains with these rocky sides look great too. The little roof add a nice extra colour. :-) Well done!
Regards,
Lars
