Photographer’s Note

The Piatra Craiului massif is a natural reserve, where rare plant species like: Dianthus callizonus, Hesperis nivea, Minuatia transilvanica, Leontopodium alpinum are living. The wild fauna is represented by chamois and other large herbivores and also many large carnivores (wolfs, brown bears, lynx).

Magura Branului is a small village situated at 1.200 m altitude (in the vicinity of the well-known Bran Castle), it is "guarded" by two imposant mountains: Piatra Craiului (to the NW) and Bucegi (to the SE).

This photo was taken two years ago, while I accompanied an ethnographic research team to Magura.
We could still find people there, who lead a simple and not always easy life, but (in my opinion) it's much healthier than the one our post-modern society has to offer (from both, a physical and spiritual point of view).
