The figure of the Dying Warrior from the Statue of Liberty in Arad. Have a look at the workshop!

I'd be pleased if you told me about your opinions of the photo!

The Statue of Liberty of Arad was built entirely through public donations and no state funds were ever used. The original plan was submitted by Adolf Huszár on the 4th of March 1879, but the sudden death of the sculptor left György Zala with the mission to complete the monument and several changes were then made in the plan.

The basorelief of the 13 martyrs executed in Arad on the 6th of October 1849 was placed on the pedestal. The central figure of the monument is a woman, the allegoric expression of liberty, and she is surrounded by four groups of statues, as follows:

1. The Awakening Liberty
2. The Readiness to Fight
3. The Readiness to Sacrifice
4. The Dying Warrior

The group of "The Dying Soldier" is embodied by a female figure leaning over the figure of a dying hero. Her eyes seek the skies, as if looking for redemption, while her arms are lifting the hero and pressing a flag with the inscription: If God is with us, who will turn against us?" against her bosom. The model for this group was a Greek Niobe group, the expression of the classical depth and beauty of grief in the vision of the sculptor.
