Monastry in Voronet
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I made this picture in Romania, two years ago.
This church (of Monastery Voronet) was very impressive for me, as -as one can see- all fresques are been painted on the outside walls of the church, which is quite unusual. And the colours are so beautiful and fresh as if they were been painted just a few weeks ago. Allthough it was been built in late 14th century.
My impressions was, that those scenery from the old testament had a function like modern worlds billboards!
Anyhow it is really worth to visit and see this monastery and it's surrounding. Unfortunately it was a dim and rainy day when I was there, but on the other side this was good for the picture, as they are not too sharp shadows on it. |

Merhaba, Mesut.
A great experience to visit those painted monasteries in Bucovina, isn't it?
Funny your words about the "modern world's billboards" ;) I did not think about it, but... you're not that far from being right.
Greetings,
Andra :)
Mesut Bey Merhaba,
Bende Romanya ya gezi amaçlı gitmiştim ve Petra Neamt ta bulunmuştun.Bu resim gerçekten Romanya yı anlatıyor çok beğendim elinize sağlık..
I have seen many photos of this monastery but I think this one is the best. Congratulation! :-) I think cloudy wheather helped you.
You are right, the natural pigments used for this fresco is a mistery for specialists. Painting is very well preserved even several centuries (six) have passed. Colours are very beautifull as well.
Thanks for sharing this photo.
