The title of this photo only attempts to catch your attention. But it is actually true.
This is Sighişoara, a town in Transylvania in central Romania where Vlad Ţepeş, a.k.a. Dracula, Prince of Wallachia, was born around 1431. He became known as a cruel ruler but was probably not much worse than most rulers in those days. He only has his name in common with the fictional character Dracula.
Sighişoara is a very nice town, classified by the UNESCO as a World heritage site. It is pretty enough to attract visitors from all over regardless of Dracula, but of course lots of shops, bars and restaurants try to cash in on the Dracula myth to attract more customers.
In two workshops I will show you more of this very pleasant small town.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

un bel servizio su questa bella città, mi piace di più la foto dalla cattedrale, ma il lovoro è bello nel suo complesso e mi ha permesso di conoscere questa città.
Grazie per la condivisione.

Also known, of course, as Vlad the Impaler, one of history's great nicknames.
The more I see of Romanian cities, especially those on the Carpathians and in Transylvania, the more I want to visit. These beautiful pastel row buildings seem to make their appearance in every one, all the while backed with lovely wooded hills. Quite an attractive sight!

You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone, so it's interesting and impressive to see the old architectures with colorful wall and red tiled roof. It's impressive in the church with the pinnacle, and yellow phone box, too. This town(Sighisoara) looks like lovely town with the houses of medieval times and the rich surrounding greenery when seeing WS#2. And, it's impressive the red flower is attached in front of the window.

Very fine capture of this wonderful old town. Draculea (From the big family of Draculesti) or Vlad Tepes, was a great ruler of Walachia and he knew that people can be educated and managed by hard rules. And another think: he keept the Europe safe from the Otoman invasion, like all the Wallachian leaders.
Have a great weekend.

I like very much your point of view and composition, they give us a lovely view on the colourful facades as well as the impression that we are about to enter and explore the town following the people ahead. I love the placement of the man on the right and the way he is following the curve. The perspective of the facades, the spires rising above the roofs, the intriguing architectural patterns and the lovely soft colours are very inviting. I enjoyed very much the link and the workshop pictures too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

Great note! Lovely picture of a charming cityscape, in spite of its "terrible" historical background!
Special regards to the soft light & colors, vertical format, chosen pov and composition!
TFS - congrats,

Your "Altered Image #2" is a wonderful picture and a splendid
complement to this picture here.
You chose a very well angle with the nice facades and the church tower in background.
What a lovely picture with the nice colours of the area
Lovely presentation, perfectly of colours, sharpness and clarity make these picture attractive.
Very well done, TFS.
Kielia (23287) 2013-05-09 5:07
your POV on these already well known but still fascinating houses works excellently. Very nice and natural colors and an excellent perspective. The pedestrians are also an important part of the composition. My compliments!
tyro (19780) 2013-05-11 8:34
You have given us an interesting note and one which, at least in part, helps to dispel the evil myths about poor old Dracula.
This is indeed a very attractive little town judging by your lovely trio of pictures. The colourful façades of the buildings are attractive and you have arranged them in your frame in a very pleasing manner so the row of buildings, the lines in the cobblestones and the pedestrians walking away from us draw our eyes into the distance to the tall church tower. Just a pity about the modern yellow telephone booth and the satellite dish, but these things can't be helped. At least there's only the tiniest trace of any motor cars.
Lovely soft light, gorgeous vibrant but true colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
serp2000 (39250) 2013-05-12 10:19
yes, but he also was an active defence of Europa from the South direction. Good report from Transylvania, that man was a legend and I don't know what is reality and what is fantasy.
Have a great new week!
Angshu (55295) 2013-05-15 0:49
Hello dear Gert
Thanks for the WS posts. With the 3 pictures we get a fair bit of idea of Sighişoara. The facades have lovely pastel colours, with the perspective leading us to the church spire. The yellow telephone booth looks out of place from the medieval environs.
abmdsudi (42012) 2013-05-17 22:54
So, this is Dracula's Hideout.. where the tale began. Well this is an image you could get your teeth into and well fangs for that. LOL
I love this image for its wonderful pastel colours, the layout and human interactions along with the architectural style. Great capture, Ccongrats.

Hi Gert, I missed so many your photos when I was away. Nice view from the lovely town of Sighisoara. This is the most enchanting place in Romania even if a bit dangerous because of the dogs :). Nice also the two workshops.

another nice capture from your archive. I like how you presented this street view in vertical and how you managed light. The alley is looking superb with those buildings at both sides. Excellent depth and nice clarity. A very good image indeed. Tfs.
