A woman selling flowers in the centre of Cluj-Napoca. Most likely she would not be able to survive on her pension only. Times are hard for a lot of people in many countries, not only Romania, where the governments have run up huge budget deficits and are forced to cut down their expenses. For some reason the defence budgets are rarely touched, it's always the already poor who have to pay.

Unfortunately we still find such sad situation all over the world!
Very touching picture!
Sharpness, exposure, pov, colors, pp, contrasts, vertical format and simple composition are all very good here!
TFS - congratulations!

I get a growing impression that you visited Russia instead of Romania! ;-) only (for a strange reason) the street signs are not in Cyrillic...
It's amazing how similar such scenes are to those which I see in Moscow!
well well, as always - excellent street/documentary shot!
PS. at least the smog has left Moscow today... for how long?? and it's "only" +35C!

What a touchy moment you captured portraying the daily life here. The charming lady and the roses really stands out against the whole image, so good contrasts. Good pov, great sharpness and well mananged light. A great photo work, Congrats and thks for sharing

A very good picture with some eye-catching red flowers. A documnetary capture, and she doesn´t seem to be too annoyed at having her picture taken. An interesting daily life street view!

Hi Gert, Touching photograph with your note. She has not much to sell, poor woman. And have you bought some flowers from her? Probably not... Excellent everyday life photo.

Boa noite Gert
Very lovely and sensitive capture. We can see that she is selling natural and simple flowers, like her life. Superb photo. TFS

Wonderful and very "Gertian" photo. I like the note too. I do not quite understand it either why Romania (and other countries for that matter) do not look at their defence budgets. What is Romania afraid of, they are member of NATO and it is extremely unlikely that a Russian invasion is going to happen in the next 100 years. Why do they keep speding all this money when they could give this poor lady a bit of peace in her last days!
Thanks for sharing

A poignant portrait made stronger by the ease of walk of the two women on the opposite side of the road.

this is a good portrait and documentary shot.It is a pity about the post and litter bin as it seems to grow out of her back. But excellent techical values and an emphathetic note.

Good framing and pov
Have a nice evening

I wish this was an old photo and that things were different in Europe in the second decade of 2000. I was about to comment on the simple, street portrait and how engaging the lady's glance and offering gesture was but your note added a very strong association with the condition in Greece today. I like the absolute naturalness of details and colours but confronting the lady is embarrassing. There's an interesting juxtaposition with the two ladies walking on the opposite pavement. Congratulations and thank you! I look forward to the next exotic destination you will be taking us to!
All the best, have a great weekend,

your photo and comment is perfect. This year I want to even travel to Romania, I was once there in 1999.
