This is the Schei Gate (Poarta Schei), one of the two remaining gates in the medieval walls that partly still surround the centre of Brasov, central Romania. This particular gate was built in 1827, replacing a much older one that had been destroyed by fire.
During the 13th to 17th centuries when Brasov, and most of Transylvania, was ruled by Saxons (German settlers), Romanians were not allowed to live within the city walls. They could only enter at certain times and had to pay a toll to get inside to sell their products.
I will post two workshops, one showing a section of the city wall, the other a glimpse of the old town of Brasov.

Very attractive urban and architecture photograph!
The gate is a wonderful frame for the background with all those buildings and cars!
Sharpness, exposure, pov, dof, colors, pp, contrasts, vertical format and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congratulations!

this is a truly picturesque city :) I lilke this set of a few photos showing various "facets" of the city.
Interesting, picturesque perspective view. And if it wasn't for the road sign, satellite antanna and the endless row of cars along the street it would be easier to imagine what this street looked like several centuries ago :)
PS. they say it rained in some districts of Moscow last night.. but not in the district where I live! LOL At least today it's very windy! no such smoky smog anymore, it's easier to breathe.

This one shows a really good eye for composition and COLOUR! The way those red cars reinforce the reds of the archway's traffic railings is great, and on top of that the 'no entry' sign!
Lovely collection of houses. It's emerging on TE that there are really some marvellous old towns and villages in Romania, not destroyed by the tyrants.
Good framing using th arch and a fine angle looking down the street. I liked the WS photos too.

Great use of the city gate to frame the buildings and street. The angle of the shot is fine using the street and line of cars to give the shot a sense of direction. The lighting and colors are fine and the photo has nice sharpness and depth.

A very impressive frame for this pleasant street scene (with many red elements). Also in this case, the extra WS pictures could have done very well as own contributions to TE. Excellent pictures, all of them!

Hello Gert, Nice composition through the gate. Beautiful view but all these cars! One cannot do anything about it but in the old city the car always are spoiling factor. Brasov is a nice city but somehow I liked it less than Sibiu or Sighisoara. Good photo, excellent perspective, natural colours and so on.
Warm regards Malgorzata

Hi Gert. The archway is the perfect picture frame for this scene. The old houses are behind a landmark. To the modern world, however, including the cars. Overall, a very original shot. Very nice. Regards, Wolfgang.

I saw the thumbnail of this beautiful picture some time ago but I have not looked at it until now. The composition is excellent. I was a very good idea to iclude the gate. I notice though that the wonderful houses in the background is slightly blurred. I believe it is because the camera focused on the gate. Personally, I would have tried to focus on the first car behind the gate or alternatively, and if possible, go further away from the gate and zoom it in for a better depth of field. TFS and have nice evening!

This is fine shot from Brasov with a good framing by the gate arch, very colourful and with perfect clarity and sharpness to allow one to view the many details of the houses. Great perspective impression. TFS!

You have chosen a good angle through the archway to show the old architecture and so many red cars! Good lighting. Hope you are having another great holiday. Cheers, Marlene

I like very much how you worked on your composition, combining the symmetrical framing of the imposing gate and the elegant downward perspective into the colourful street. I love the colours and details of the buildings, the flowing line of cars and the end of the view at another gate. It's superb you included the depth and relief of the pastel sky too. The light is very pleasant and the shadow under the arch is a fine graphical element. The views included in the workshop are interesting and agreeable. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good night,
