It is placed in the nearby of Baile Olanesti resort from Valcea county on the valey of Cheia river. It is a pretty old settlement, the first founders was the princes of Walachia, Radu cel Mare (1377-1383) and his son Mircea cel Batran (1386-1418).
Some documents from 16th centry says that here lived about 300 monks, most of them hermits.
The skete have been destroyed and rebuild several times. The church that exists today is from 1720 year.
The natural frame is very beautiful here. You can see from this place the peaks of Buila massive (1849 m).
