A view looking back at the Messes mountains from below on the outskirts of the town of Zalau after the first snow falls of this coming winter season. These mountains in the back ground are the location of my previous posts of the first snow and of autumn.

Solitary trees are always a safe card, good sky and a nice golden tone in the cold wintry landscape. fine to have "village" at viewpoint.

Hello Steve,

The first snow is always the most beautiful from the winter, new white carpet about the fields.
You placed the tree excellent to the right , this give a lot place to the background.

It's been interesting to watch the transition in your photos from summer to autumn to winter and the first snows. Your composition and crop in this one are really appealing, and the crispness of the image matches the season. I particularly like the small flashes of colour, and the outline of the many branches against the wintry sky. Really nice shot.

Hi Steve,
This is a great depiction of the coming of winter....the first snow....colours are bleak, leaves have disappeared from the trees and there's a thin sprinkling of snow. The hint of blue in the sky and the sparse areas of soil on the hillside gives the impression that autumn is trying to "hang around" a little longer. Well captured.

Wonderful image. I like the subdued tones. It actually feels quite warm for a first snow image maybe accentuated by the reddish building in the distance. I really enjoy the slight patches of colder blue in the sky behind the tree.

Hello Hamiltons,

A glorious scene of this old tree dominating the near landscape. The distant hills are a pleasant backdrop to the small valley. The cluster of houses in the middle draws my eye deeper into the shot. Excellent use of a combination of subtle colours, emphasising the wintery feel. The double frame is special also, it provides a good backing and the black contrasts effectively with the paler tones. Very clear and sharp, as with most of your images. A delightful photograph.
