Photographer’s Note

This one is from the oddest places on world and this is true paradise for lovers of naive art.
Carved and paint crosses paint with time times from one , and times from two sides.Every of crosses has with admirable ornamentation the carved little roof about decorative slats, and under the low - cut in woods in epitaph relating with large feeling of humour the deceased's life, bringing closer his character or else circumstance of his death. Name from predominant colour comes from ,, the sapanta blue''.
It is authors of those crosses only two men; died in 1997 year Ioan State Patras ( alone tombstone sculptured me ) and his pupil Dumitru Pope.

Fascinating image, Jozef. I must say that I have never seen anything quite like this before. Very impressive art work, unique subject, and nice point of view. I think you were a little unlucky with the light but handled it very nicely. Great job!

Witaj Józek,

to jest cmentarz? Nie widziałam niczego podobnego. Bardzo wesołe te krzyże. Fajne malunki opisujące pochowanych tam zmarłych - traktorzysta, nauczyciel, rolnik.. Ekstra kolorki!

quoi de plus beau que les hommages à nos morts.
ce cimetière semble en effet paisible et merveilleux.
cette photo nous invite à sa découverte; j'en redemande!
très belles couleurs dont celle du ciel menaçant assortie aux bleu gris des tombes.

beautiful view of this typical Maramures cemetery... I like the domination of blue tones, I think you have chosen the right POV... Adding some more sky in the whole composition would not have been a disadvantege though...
