Photographer’s Note

Muierilor Cave (women's cave), is a beautiful natural monument, geographicaly situated in Getic Depression of Oltenia, on the territory of Baia de Fier village, Gorj county.
An asphalted ramification about 7 km starting, to the left of the road that connects Târgu Jiu to Râmnicu Vâlcea, in Poenari village towards Baia de Fier village, situated at the entrance of Galbenul river gorges.
The name, given by the people from Baia de Fier, comes from the fact, that in the old times, with frequent wars, when the men were gone to fight, the women and children were hidding in the cave, transformed in a shelter, well protected and undiscovered by the invaders.
The cave has 3600m disposed on 4 levels.only 573m are arranged for visit.
It is said that in romania are over 12 000 caves but only few that can be visited by tourists:(yes..it's a shame we hide so manny beauties of our country! i just hope something will change in the near future!

Buna dimineata Teo

O nota completa si o fotografie pe masura.
O locatie interesanta,merita vazuta,presupun ca asa si este.
Buna setarea,tinand cont de lumina disponibila.

Cred ca vom ramane doar cu HOPE-ul...ca in rest...schimbari?...mai greu...

Sa ai o zi excelenta...astept cu nerabdare si restul...

PS:deci...vreo schimbare?..un RAW...ceva?...:-D

Hello Teo,

Often caves are kept closed to the public because they are dangerous. Many have to be explored first in order to make sure they are accessible. In any case the image is very nice. The movement of the people add more dynamics to the view and it seem a nice place to visit. Cheers :-)

Nice result for a hand help image, very good sharpness here, but with all these people it looks more like an underground party than a cave visit ;-)
