Photographer’s Note

This is the Danube, in this area the border between Romania (on the left) and Serbia (on the right). I think it´s maybe the most beautiful part of the Danube, unfortunately a bit difficult to access (best is by ship, as I did). The Danube is more like a lake there, since some 20 km downstream from this place a huge power plant had been buit in the 1970´s, piling up water up to 36 meters (it´s called the "Iron Gate", everything was a bit more dramatic in those days).
A monk built his little church there, right by the river - it´s still under constuction, and when we passed, he stood by the river waving at us.

Hi Johannes,
Spectacular place with the wide river between high steep shores. The church is impressive too. Does that boat belong to border control?

Very spectacular. The little church lies in a very romantic spot of the Danube valley. Excellent POV and nice colors.

The Danube is a really powerful river :) I was sailing for a few hours down the Danube last night, but only in Belgrade area...I never took a ride at this part but it looks really inviting! The great Danube, beautiful nature and very interesting little church - I like your photo very much!

Buna seara Johannes

Foarte frumoasa locatia,intr-adevar arata mai mult ca un lac decat un fluviu.
Stiam,adica sunt constient ca avem o tara frumoasa,dar n-am stiut ca prin partile alea e asa de frumos.Frumos compusa imaginea.
Ma bucur sa vad fotografii si din alte parti ale tarii,nu numai din cele cu care sunt obisnuit deja.
Frumos...si multumesc.

What a beautiful picture! The composition is perfect, with all the elems in place. The green lines on the river may are such an interesting add. Such a great location for this white church. Beautiful landscape. I think its time for you to change your introduction, this is pretty near to perfection to me!

You missed an opportunity to add Serbia to your map ;-)
Nice view of this church contrasting strongly against its green background and thus attracting the eye despite the boat being a 2nd focus point next to it, I see you are travelling in good company ;-)

poate ar fi timpul sa-ti schimbi intro-ul ;o) ... eu zic ca nu mai esti demult 'accidental photographer' ... compozitiile tale arata maturitate compozitionala, grija pentru compozitie si detalii.
atractiva imagine si aici, buna perspectiva si intr-adevar, o tara frumoasa! ;o)

I wish I was photographing a worship one day in this beautiful church. Splendid capture of scene while adding great river depth of and "border" by mossy stains. I'm still not understanding the borders between cultures and of course peoples. A great lesson with your notes, congratulations.

I've been here 13 days before you! But instead of you I was by bicycle, not by ship! I remember this small chapel, when we passed it, it was raining heavily... :S ;)
