Stone Ravens Monastery Photo

Photographer’s Note

Village of Corbi. In the background: Corbii de Piatra Monastery (Stone Ravens Monastery). Monastery was restored in 1512 by nun Magdalina, in time of Neagoe Basarab Voivode (1512-1521). In the documents there is no information about when it was built for the first time. The church is delved in stone. Near the church, also delved in stone, there is a place which looks like a High Court in open air. In this place Neagoe Basarab Viovode made public justice. The church underwent repairs and restoration works under Iosif, Bishop of Arges; the porch of the church was also constructed under the earnest care of the Bishop Iosif, in 1809. After many years of desolation, in 1996 the monastery started again to be populated by monks.

Witam!
Widzê, ¿e ¶migasz tras±, któr± ja zrobi³em w zesz³ym roku. Ale w tym miejscu to chyba nie by³em. Jako¶ sobie nie przypomniam? Tych klasztorów tyle zaliczy³em, ¿e ju¿ siê w g³owie miesza. Ciekawe miejsce. Kolorki mo¿e jak dla mnie za bardzo intensywne.

Hello Mikolaj,
The brightly painted blue house is almost shockingly colourful in this environment. It certainly stands out. The wooden fence is a good foreground, going diagonally into the picture, and the hill in the background is another focus. Looks like a very interesting place.

Something about the blue church and the rock behind it drew my attention as I browsed through your works. And the state of disrepair of the roof with a panel curling off. And how sunny the weather was. I imagine, it's better going around Romania, seeing historical locations in summer.
