Photographer’s Note
The basorelief of the 13 martyrs executed in Arad on the 6th of October 1849 was placed on the pedestal. The central figure of the monument is a woman, the allegoric expression of liberty, and she is surrounded by four groups of statues, as follows: The Awakening Liberty, The Readiness to Fight, The Readiness to Sacrifice, The Dying Warrior. "The Readiness to Fight" is a classically shaped youth, with overpowering strength and ambition. He wears a helmet and holds a mace with his right hand.
