Photographer’s Note
Another shot of Saint Michael's Roman catholic basilica of Alba Iulia(Weissenburg/Karlsburg/Gyulafehérvár).
Pictured here, is the small sanctuary at the end of the northern aisle of the cathedral. I find it to be a jewel of 12th century Romanesque stone work, precisely and beautifully carved, like a symbol of the strive for perfection, hidden at the crossing of the nave and transept, in the shadow of the walls, behind trees. It has been standing here for more than 800 years, a silent witness to the passing of time, in a region which by no means was spared a stormy and turbulent as well as glorious history.
It seems that, with the grace of God, it remains unchanged, part of a rich and ancient heritage.

Hi Mikee, what a wonderful romanesque architectural detail you captured here. I like the angle. The strong textures of the stone and the dominant brown-green colour contrast makes this pic a very strong one. Thanks for the informative note too.
