Photographer's Note

First rays of morning sunshine reaching Prahova Valley.

This fairy-tale Neo-Renaissance castle was constructed between 1873 and 1914 for king Carol I of Romania.

With this kind of climate no wonder it was the first castle with central heating in Europe...

the sunlight illuminating the castle walls is wonderful and has helped create some lovlet colours as well as a fantastic atmosphere to this image. the blue sky contrasts so well with the white snow covered scene.

Hello Kasia,
This is a very well handled shot with the morning light just touching half of the building. Every part of the photo is well exposed and the POV gives full credit to the spectacular building. In fact I found most of Romania to be a spectacular country, very interesting.

Witaj Kasiu, swietne zdjecie zamku Peles, bardzo podoba mi sie swiatlo. Wieza pieknie oswietlona, inne czesci w cieniu, ale tez dobrze widoczne. Swietnie sie prezentuje w zimowej scenerii. I wnetrza ma wspaniale, prawda? Szkoda, ze tyle kaza sobie placic za mozliwosc robienia zdjec.
Super wygladaja te osniezone swierki.

Well managed shot, Kasia - the line separating light and shadow matches well with the treeline, creating an interesting dualism to the shot. The setting itself is gorgeous as well - I wonder what a pulled back image including more of the hillside would look like? How high up is this castle?

widze,ze w tym zdjeciu wszystko ci dopisalo-zimowa aura,no i piekna sloneczna pogoda.Zamek faktycznie wyglada bajkowo.Bardzo podoba mi sie rowniez gra swiatla i cienia podkreslajaca kontrast pomiedzy pieknie oswietlonym zamkiem a znajdujacym sie w cieniu pierwszym planem.Teraz rozumiem dlaczego tak bardzo liczysz na snieg podczas twojej nastepnej podrozy.Piekna scena!

I was about to say that "this winter at least someone is lucky to have much snow and frosty weather to shoot such beautiful photos!" when I saw the date of shooting: January 2012!
A beautiful view. Looks a bit like a fairy-tale scene. The bright sunshine and the blue sky create an impression of a very frosty day :)

Hello Kasia,
an exquisite composition from an upward point of view that exalts the elegance and dynamism of the elaborate architecture, makes great use of the sweet morning light making its way over the snowy slope and gives almost equal space to two marvellous tonalities of blue which are interrupted by the light and have superb interaction. There's fantastic clarity in both the lit and shady parts and the smoothness of the snow matches well that of the colours. Congratulations and thank you!

Excellent qualiyt image and as we know, it is a challenge to manage the light with distinct shadow and light you did a great job here. Love the soft and pale blueish shadow and the warm sun light.
