Photographer’s Note

' Ilija from Macedonia ' and his dog Ina.

One night, we cruised around to find a vantage point, so we could look at the alarmingly fast growing city. Despite the fact we had two gps' we couldn't find our way to our much desired destination. we pulled over for pictures and leisure, and called it a night.

Something of interesting here : a very classic way of posing, like on the very old photographs, with a mixture of "modern" treatement...
I like it evenghouth I would maybe prefer it in black and white...

ca sa nu uitam si catelul, care dealtfel pozeaza fantastic si sigur
e de nadejde dupa cum il vad eu) si 'hopla frumoasa seara' ;o)
(adica tot ce au mentionat deja ante-vorbitorii mei), e foarte
bine ca ai asa prieteni buni. esti norocos.

Intriguing image, looks weird (which partly is why I like it). Dog and man make good pair, similarity in eye expression. The light is masterfully managed. Top class, Bogdan.

A fascinating portrait, Bogdan. It looks very classic, traditional...but it has a strangeness to it, which I find very appealing. Part of it is caused by the strong lights, coming both from behind and from in front. And however weird, a guy who wears his handgloves like that, can't be bad! Great!

Oh boy! I love this one! I will admit, if it was not for the dog there, with the eyes round like marbles and ears like wings, I'm not sure I would have fall in love as much! But I have to admit too that the dog without the master with his serious face, his poised attitude, and his mittens (!) will not make the shot as well. I guess it means that it is the total composition, their "union" that is so good.
The light!? Where it comes from? Anyway, that's good.
Posed photos are tricky. And rarely good. You really have the way with this kind of photo! It is posed and in the same time, there is something strange, weird, and funny that creeps into the photo. Gosh... I hope you understand what I'm trying to express... Sigh!

There is something striking in this photo, I like it very much. Be it the connection with the man and animal (felt more than seen), or the night mood, or the somehow 'cold' atmosphere...or all of them!
I remembered what it reminds me of...John Carpenter's movie, "The Thing"! Yes! It has this creepy feeling when you get to be all alone and by yourself and strive for survival..
