Autumn in the canyon Photo

Photographer’s Note

Winter is here, but I want to remember the sunny autumn days with this photo. Taken during our class excursion in October with Filip's Panasonic.

I would be pleased if you told me your opinion about the photo!

The Bicaz Canyon (Cheile Bicazului in Romanian, Békás-szoros in Hungarian) is one of the most spectacular places in Romania, located in the north-east part of the country, in Neamţ and Harghita counties. The canyon was dug by the waters of Bicaz River and it serves as a passageway between the Romanian provinces of Moldova and Transylvania. It is a noted location to see the wallcreeper, an uncommon cliff-dwelling bird. The road along the 8 kilometres of ravines, often in serpentines with rock on one side and a sheer drop on the other, is one of the most spectacular drives in the country. Also within the Chei is Lacu Rosu (the Red Lake), with its traditional cabins, hotels, and its famous lake (situated at 980m altitude) caused by a landslide in the 19th century.

Hi Marci,
autumn in Romania is a real blessing! Beautiful capture, the shadow cutting the photo in two, and both parts have just the right portion of light and contrast. And of course the cows... country life as it really is around here!

Szia Marci,
You have a wonderful collection of autumn hues on the top, and at the bottom the descending cows action is balancing that well from a compo point of view, too bad this part is in the shade though.

Hi Marton, Very nicely composed with the addition of the cattle to the right & the high POV is excellent, the contrasting light is really excellent as the brighter top draws out the autumn colours wonderfully, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

What a beutiful shot with all those autumn colors in the trees leaves bathed by the sunlight, and it's lovely seeing the cows there in the shadows. ;)

I love the high point of view that makes us feel the relief of the place. The autumn colours are very nice thanks to the sunbeams. Good sharpness too. Very good shot !

Bright side is the beautiful colours of autumn and dark side is a surprise to see the cows formation on the road. Perfect of using the nature lights...

Beautiful nature photography, you had to face dificult light conditions, but you balanced very well, the shadowed and the bright parts! Beautiful colours, great framing and composition! Congratulations!

Szép fotó, nem is emlékeztem rá...
A fél képet beterítő árnyék nagyon jellemző a szorosra, és mivel ekkora, elgondolkodik az ember, vajon mi lehet a háta mögött..
Nagyon tetszik a kompozíció, a színek is jól kijöttek.

Szia Marci!
Szó se róla, zavaró az éles ellentét a napfényes hegyoldal és az árnyékos rész között. De emlékszem, természetben ez az ellentét még élesebb, én kifejezetten jónak tartom, ahogy a két végletet sikerült a digitális szenzor mérsékelt dinamikájába terelni színvesztés nélkül. Nem gondoltam volna, hogy még mindig azon a szűk úton terelgetik a (mellesleg kedves hangulati elemet jelentő) teheneket, úgy látszik, mégis van némi állandóság a világban. Szépek a színek, a kompozíció kicsit furcsa - mint maga az egész Békás-szoros.

Hi Marci,
Do you know? To control the exposure in this so strong and changeable light is not easy, and in spite of a bit of OE in the most illuminated areas, I think that you have obtained a good balance with the areas in shade.
The river, the autumns tones in the trees and the cows walking along the road they add a great graphical interest to your composition.

Hello Marci,
This is a great picture of autumn color.This reminds of of Autumn in North east of USA Boston,
I used to live there many years ago.Now I have shifted my base to India .The play of the light and Shadow is brilliant.Like always, this a excellent picture.
