Photographer’s Note

well, the lake zetea is situated on the river tarnava mare (the big tarnava), upstream the village zetea in harghita county. the lake has a total volume of 44 million cubic meters of water, of which 7,6 million are permanent and 36,4 million for restraining the high water waves. the lake provides a permanent flow capacity of 1,2 cubic meters/second, upstream the dam, to assure water on the the places situated on the tarnava valley. near the "foot dam" is located a hydroelectric power station. (information from wikipedia, the romanian version)

well, all this was true until this spring, when in fact, the hydroelectric power plant does not exist. the information provided by wikipedia is based on the official documents, so to say. so, after seeing this lake last year, swimming in it, I also posted some pictures with it. and, surprise! friday when I arrived there, there was no lake!! I mean, there was only the part of water near the dam, which is a very small part of the lake that was not even one year ago. to get to the central island-like portion you had to swim for about 500 meters, now you can walk there on a road made by stone. the reason of all this is that they only now want to make the hydroelectric power plant. so if you come to romania the next 10 years, and go across this place, know that there was a lake here sometimes, and it will be again in a very long period of time, thanks to the speed that romanian workers usually have.

p.s. the next few pictures will be about the lake, or better said, about the place where there used to be one. thank you for your attention.
