Photographer’s Note
Băile-Tusnad is a balneo-climateric health-resort at 650 m above sea level. It’s situated in the valley of the Olt river, between Southern Harghita Mountains and Puciosul (Ciumatul), which are volcanic massif covered by fir wood. Băile Tusnad is the smallest town in Romania. It received the town status in May 1968 thanks to its mineral waters and spa.
Attractions:
-"Sf. Ana" Lake (alt. 950 m), 25 km. far, volcanic origin, unique in Central and Eastern Europe.
-“Tinovul (mlastina) Mohos” (alt. 1056 m), situated near Sf. Ana Lake, declared natural park, habitat for rare species of plants.
-Miercurea Ciuc, 30 km. far: Miko fortress, Ethnographic Museum.
-“Red Lake” (Lacul Rosu), 115 km. far, the only natural barrage lake in Romania.
