Photographer’s Note

December 22nd is an important date to remember for the Romanians, as exactly 18 years ago the news that dictator Ceausescu was arrested bring joy and relief in everybody's heart. Well, it is actually debated on whether it really was a revolution or not, but I'm not qualified to give a competent opinion. Anyways, December 22nd bring back many memories about courage and fear, armoured carriers in the center of main cities, guns and soldiers everywhere, and the loss of a friend in conditions still not completely clarified.

The image above is the Memorial dedicated to the heroes of the Revolution, people who lost their lives in the fight against the dictator and his troops. The Memorial is in downtown Galati, erected in front of the former headquarters of the County's Council, which was the place where most events took place during those historic days. I found this image most interesting, but in the workshop you'll find two wider views showing how the memorial is positioned and how it looks during daytime. Hope you'll find this interesting.

quite a while since you posted something new here. A very sensitive moment that you choose to present this time and it seems to be the opportune image to remind us of the romanian revolution 18 years ago. Strong composition and good warm colors standing against the pitch black sky.

Nice shot. I like the warm night shot colors. I like the PoV too but seeing this and the workshop photos I was wondering how it might look like captured from a frontal but similarly low-angle PoV. I like the note too, but I'd like to point out that all those events were happening during the days just before Christmas. We might also mention that the deposed president was actually killed on Christmas day following a brief mock trial that also remained controversial to this day.

Frumos monumentul! Si reusita poza! Cred ca nu are rost sa comentez mai mult. Dumnezeu sa-i odihneasca! Si pe noi sa ne invredniceasca sa folosim libertatea pe care o avem asa cum visau si ei sa o faca!
