Photographer’s Note

I like to cook… So if someone were to ask me to come up with a recipe for a summer cake, I would immediately think of butterflies as one of the secret ingredients that would make such a cake a success. I would definitely have to add the freshness of a mountain spring, the scent of a million flowers, the chirping of the birds, a pinch of summer breeze, a touch of deep blue sky… but all of these would not be enough without the dance of a dragon fly and the beautiful wings of a butterfly. Of course, I would bake it in the heat of the burning summer sun.

I’m showing you here tonight my first butterfly picture ever… in fact my first and only butterfly picture which I only took this past summer. As a child I was collecting stamps and my favorites were the butterflies. Since I managed to get my hands on a camera I wanted to take butterfly photos but this one is the only one I managed to capture and it happened on a superb summer day. It was the only day this past summer I was able to really enjoy but that’s another story…

I’m quite happy with the result of this first opportunity I had to shoot a butterfly. I hope you’ll like it too. Enjoy!

Found out later that the butterfly is a male of Argynnis Paphia. Thank you, Jean-Pierre (fayeulle)!
