Photographer’s Note

Bucharest, escape the city in the city.

This place is located in the northern end of the city, not far from the "Casa Presei Libere" (The House of the Free Press) from my previous photo. This is the Triumphal Arch, Romania's version of the "Arc de Triomphe", located in a major intersection where quite a few major thoroughfares converge, next to the large and beautiful Herastrau Park where the city crowds flock on sunny weekends. The first structure built on this site was made of wood in 1878 and the current one, 27 meters in height, was built in 1936.
