The Cross-Road Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is another shot I took at the country side last weekend. I found it very interesting. The scene took place in the village of "Magura". My unusual conversation with the old man with the axe made me take this picture. I gave the picture a special treatment in CS which I found appropriate. In my vision, this is the atmosphere that fits these settings the best. This part of Romania ia an endless source of inspiration for photographers. As a matter of fact, I had even gone by a photo workshop that took place in one farmer's garden, just 15 minutes before I took this picture. This is another example of a photo that doesn't fit my style, but IMO, as a photographer, one must always adapt to the given situation in order to capture the best shots. I hope for massive feedback from artists around the world and am grateful for any useful critique or comment. Thank you all!

Me gusta esta fotografía. Es como sacada de otro tiempo. Le falta algo de luz, pero no le va mal, y el blanco y negro es perfecto.

To me, this is really great work. I just love the dark tones for this shot, I think your PP, not that I have seen the original, is very very good. Real great strength on this one.
Good choice of 'colours', I like that just a little colour is preserved, if my eyes see well, just a bit green on the grass, and a bit brownish colour on that cow.
Real nice composition with that old car, a nice trunk of a tree on the left. The road is placed nicely, good crop.

I like that you have caught the attention of that man looking towards the camera. Superb work man!

hallo Reinhold,
ein wirklich interessantes Bild. Es erinnert mich an die Gemaelde von Peter Brueghel (ein wenig). Es wuerde aber wirklich hifreich sein, wenn du ein wenig mehr Details uber das interessante Gespraech mit dem famosen Bauern geben wuerdest. Ich glaube es waere etwas leichter zu verstehen was das Bild eigentlich zeigen will.

Another thoughtful composition with the same special treatment in PP (yes, you're right - I think it's the most appropriate way to convey the atmosphere of this kind of places).
I like how you composed the image: interesting daily life scene: 3 different characters, each of them with his "story". I like the symbol of the cross-road; also love the presence of the animals bringing an extra "village daily life" touch to the comp.
You know it's quite a special "lesson" experimenting life of this kind of villages, especially getting in touch with the old people. I wish I could have heard your "unusual conversation" (mentioned in the note).
Once again - congratulations for these "weird" (that's your word :) ) compositions. I like them a lot for what they transmit.
That means I'm weird too :)???
