Photographer's Note

The Black Church (Biserica Neagra)of Brasov was built by the German inhabitants of Brasov and represents the most important monument in Gothic style of Romania.

In 1689 a fire partially destroyed it and the smoke blackened the exterior walls and a long time could not be restored.
The restoration took about 100 years, but because of the black wall of smoke, was called the Black Church.
