Photographer’s Note
We were living in Budapest,Hungary that time and visiting the Vorona Monastery in Romania, Moldova I came across this absolutely stunning scene: a small apple tree grew out from a tomb, carrying a single red fruit. I was just standing there mesmerized for a minute by this picture. Numerous beliefs say that rebirth is possible in a different form of life. Now I'm not quite a religious type of person, but standing there seeing this scene the only thing what could cross my mind was this myth of rebirth. That time my camera was a Praktica TL or LLC with a 50 mm fixed lens, loaded with a print film. The camera was hand held and the exposure guesstimated. Regardless of the quality of the photo, to come across such a scene with any kind of camera handy it's one of those exceptional moments of life. Probably I took only this frame, to find the original film would be a gargantuan job, although I have all the films I shot in my life boxed and stored in a cool-dry-place, including lots of black and white negatives from the seventies.
Anyways I'm glad I can share this photo today.
Photo scanned on Canon MF 4100 and some retouches done in Adobe Photoshop CS2, but not much that I could do with it to bring it to today's standard.
