Hi dear TE friends

This is my 1st post with my new SLR.

Place : Lisbon/ Edward VII Park

Theme: Christmas Tree (ll) - Two year in TE.

Member Since: 2006-12-05

Europe’s largest Christmas tree stood for the first time in Lisbon in 2004.
In 2008 it returns to Lisbon although not in the same square that it called home for two years. This time it will stand on Edward VII Park overlooking the city all the way down to the river. It will not be as tall (last time it measured 76 meters), reaching a height of “only” 44 meters due to the fact that the top of the park is much higher than its previous low riverfront location and it could interfere with the airplanes passing by on their way to the city’s airport. However, even with this year’s scaled-down version, Portugal will continue to have the tallest Christmas tree in Europe for one more year.

I'm very proud of being a member of Trekearth for the last 2 years.
I learned a lot and got many technical ways to use my camera. I also helped a few new members. That's the way it should be!
The TrekEarth let me make new friends. I am very glad about that.
I'm sending this words to all you TE family, so, I would like to wish Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to everybody.

I think this is the first Christmas card I have seen this year on TE. It's a good idea to post it now as a double celebration to mark your 2nd anniversary on TE. Congratulations and Merry Christmas to you!
It is a beautiful image caught in the last of the blue hour; we can even still see some pink clouds remaining from the sunset. The central composition works well here and the people are great for scale.

Hello Filipe, first of all congratulations for your second year in TE. Wish to see other nice photos from you in he following years...

This Christmas tree was in Praça do Comercio till 2006. This one is the same of the previous one but the venue has changed. Very splendid photo. I can even see Avenida da Liberdade and also the other side of Rio Tejo.

Pois é, o Natal já está quase aí. Belo cartão de Natal! O primeiro que vejo este ano... O ajuste de exposição está impecável, o que resulta numa luminosidade e nitidez deslumbrantes. Além da árvore, que está fabulosa, gosto dos ténues reflexos das luzes no céu e das nuvens. O enquadramento central fica aqui muito bem. Acho que vou tentar a minha sorte por lá um destes dias... :-)

A exposição desta foto está magnífica e com um resultado final espectacular. Mas, tenho a certeza de que teria ficado melhor se tivesses usado uma Canon!!! (muitos risos!!!).
Penso que a nova localização é mesmo melhor pois certamente que será muito mais visível ali. Só é mesmo pena os aviões passarem tão baixos e cortarem a estrela se a árvore tivesse mais uns metritos!!! (novamente, muitos risos!!!).

Já não falta muito para o natal. No outro fim-de-semana estive a fazer a árvore com o meu filho de 3 anos e a minha mulher e foram momentos muito bonitos.A magia do natal está na familia e nos amigos...

Christmas is sure coming! The huge Christmas tree looks a bit "out of this world", but very beautifully illuminated and decorated! I like the golden-yellow & blue colours: it's always a very successful combination :) Very good light management. Very good composition.
And I can also see some clouds in the dark sky - that's also very nice!

I should have visited more to your gallery! Because Portugal has very interesting places and landscape scenery.

I like your choice of this Xmas tree for your 2 year milestone post and just the right time before year end holidays.

I am surprised you switched brand but last week I also bought D40 model together with other cameras for Xmas. So I congratulate you on 3 things - new D40, Xmas, 2 yr on TE and I like the mood here for night exposure.

My personal choice would be moving a bit to the right and put the Xmas tree between the thin towers but that is a minor point.

Excellently managed lights, very well balanced with darkened background still bright enough to sense late evening clouds. The main motive nicely stands out but simultaneously works as a part of decoration scenery.
Most lovely composition of great quality and crispy sharpness, excellently presented.

Apesar de ser o teu Christmas card, creio que ficaria melhor sem a palavra "Lisbon".
