Photographer’s Note
Minas de São Domingos was the first mining facility in Portugal. Around the mines, a village (with the same name) was created to fulfill the needs of the workers and their families. Now it's a small village in the municipality of Beja, in the southern part of Alentejo, close to the Spain border, about 20km east of Mértola. In summer time it's very popular because it has one of the best artificial beaches of Portugal, in the small dam of Tapada Grande.
Unfortunately I couldn't find any documentation about the church of Minas de São Domingos. I contacted the expert of churches in Alentejo (Adores) but she didn't find any information as well. Anyway, the style seems to be Mudejar and it's problably from the 16th century.
You can see other angles in WS1 and WS2. I couldn't decide which one to post. I guess that this one is a more purist version while the others have trees around giving a more greenery context.
You can see the only other post of this church from Paulo (Juntas), here.

Bonjour Ricardo

Gunaydin Ric,
The architectural details of the church are exquisite and fascinating.
The graphism of the rainwater pipes and the columns on the left is gorgeous .If I were you I would also get closer to the left part :)
Enjoy your Sunday with your family and friends:)

Ola Ricardo,
Nice papagolfade with funny chimneys on its side, a bit too shady on the front but with a limited number of colors making the visual impression stronger.
Have a nice sunday JY

Hi Ricardo,
A quite beautiful series on this splendid church and I acknowledge to have a small preference for your photograph in WS2 where the visual angle brings a beautiful depth and the vegetation gives a pleasant contrast, even if it hiding place part of the building. The weather conditions were superb. Thank you Ricardo.
With all my friendships and very good Sunday,

Hallo Ricardo!
What a church, what an impressive and uncommon building! I've naver seen something like this. You show uit in a wonderful light which emphasizes its "fancy" forms in a beautiful way. In combination with the workshop photos and the excellent note a perfect contributuion in terms of TE!
Have anice Sunday!

Paulo

hi Ricardo,
I love these white churches against the blue sky .. it is interesting that this is much more ornate than most .. it takes away some of the way the simple architecture works with the simple palette .. but then on the other hand this is a beautiful church .. is that a plastic soda bottle there in the foreground .. what are people thinking? nice angle of light .. very nice. take care, John

Hi Ricardo,
Interesting composition to introduce an old town, good pov to show an old church in perspective effect, big round columns make unique structure at the side, distinct image, well done.

Bonjour, mon ami Ricardo,

Difficult choice between this and WS2. Both of them use a low POV which I like. I can see why you chose this one as an architect, as it shows more clearly the architectural features. Aesthetically, I think I prefer WS2 with the trees. Also the direction of light is better and we can see the bell tower, which is just hinted at here.
It made me wonder if you are influenced in photography by your profession. I know you are artistic but architecture also involves a lot of science, so which side of you takes precedence?

Hello Ricardo, whenever I go to Alentejo I see very small but also mysterious chapels which are settled alone, without any residential area nearby. I remember some of them in previous photos of Ana (adores). But this is a very huge one for Alentejo :) The style of architecture is also different. But looks very splendid against the blue sky. The ones in the WS are even more beautiful in my opinion. Best regards, Tolga

Hi Ricardo,
Beautiful photo of this church, I really like the style of it, looks special with the round shapes and the many small towers. The play of light and shadow on the walls looks great too and the very blue sky works as a great background. Thanks for sharing!

hi Ricardo
A long history from 16th century.
Quite interesting architecture to see the church with columns at external face and with not many windows. I think both WS versions are also showing good views, and the main is a good choice.

Hola Ric
Have a nice evening for you

Hello Ricardo,
I don't quite know what to compare this church to, maybe it has some elements from castles and fortifications?!
The sixteen towers are unique additions in church architecture but then I'm no expert hehehe.......
The white structure stands out so well on the intensly blue sky, and the angle of light gives a nice 3-D effect!
Greetings,

Ola Ricardo
You do get some interesting architecture on churches in Alentejo...the different approach in architecture (who knows better than the architect in you?). While WS#1 is interesting because of the red tiles, I find WS#2 to be very interesting, maybe you should post it later as an original (knowing fully well you would have GBs of posts left)...in fact I find it the best of the three. But thanks for all three posts & your note..all of high quality my friend!
Best Regards

Quando li "in the municipality of Beja, (...) close to the Spain border", pensei: este "perto da fronteira" é daquelas medidas alentejanas, é já ali.
Cumprimentos,
F.
