Our Lady of Visitation - V Photo

Photographer’s Note

So I'm posting Our Lady of the Visitation once more, only time time I've included the whole facade.Just like the last ones I've posted, this one was also taken at sunset.
This church is Manueline (nowadays that can be seen mainly inside and also on the doorway).
It was in the Castle of Montemor-o-Novo that King D. Manuel gathered the court, by the end of the 15th century, to decide Vasco da Gama's departure to India.It is said that after the departure to India, the king used to come to this chapel to pray.
The architecture, as well as the blue & white colours are traditional from the south. The interior is simple but beautiful and it has two rooms completely filled with ex-votos brought by the people. They date from the 18th till this century but most part of them date from the period of the 1st World War and from the period of the War in the Portuguese Ex-Colonies. The history of the region is partially told in these rooms. But, the most famous ex-voto is a crocodile brought by a soldier when he came from the war in Africa. There is a feast every summer and it’s to this chapel most part of the people in the area come to pray or ask for something and almost everyone has a photo in the middle of all those ex-votos. That’s a way of asking for protection.

é uma típica foto sua. Aliás, na verdade penso que as capelas e igrejas é que seguem um padrão de tons azuis e branco. Contudo, esta é particularmente linda, além de parecer ter uma dimensão maior que as demais.

esta é mais uma igreja de estranha arquitetura, não gosto do conjunto como um todo mas gosto de alguns detalhes da igreja. O seu pov, e a luz tem a qualidade de sempre, muito bons. creio que esta fachada poderia resultar em mais belas fotos ainda

Hi Ana,
A suitable addition to the themes, I like the inclusion of the cross in the FG, breaking the symmetry and centered framing of the church. Light is excellent so the colors are first class, and it is as sharp as it gets. The church itself is beautiful too!

Hello Ana,

I like the composition with the colossal cross as a counterpoint to the smaller cross perched on the church. The colors and resolution are excellent — good photographer with a good camera.

Uma bela capela manuelina, estilo arquitetônico que gosto muito. Interessante a história dos ex-votos, principalmente o crocodilo! É uma tradição muito comum por aqui também. Uma composição muito bem realizada, com um enquadramento bem escolhido.

I like the inclusion of the cross close to the viewer and the facade a bit in the background, good light and very nice colour tones. The entrance a bit in the shadow but still something to see is a good detail for me.

Está uma maravilhosa luz sobre uma bela fachada.
A cruz dá um forte impacto. Mas acho que preferia a foto sem a cruz.
A propósito dos ex-votos, não sei se viste que mostrei um na Senhora do Castelo em Coruche.
