This is very pretty. Tha architecture and the ornaments remind me so much of the cities where I was born and grew up. Nice and clear image with very good saturation of colours and details. The little child is a nice focal point here as is the interesting looking hydrant. Thanks Ulf.

Eine wunderschöne Stimmung zeigst Du uns hier. Interessant der Kontrast zwischen der etwas heruntergekommenen Fassade und den bunten Girlanden. In voller Sonne wäre das Motiv wohl nur schwer zu meistern gewesen.

Hallo Ulf. So, wie Dir dieser hängengebliebene Schmuck aufgefallen ist, registriere ich immer wieder die hängengebliebene Weihnachtsdekoration in den großen Städten der Welt (z.B. Istanbul). An excellent photo with a great impression of this town, lovely colours added by the decorations still there after the festivities. The composition is very good and the facades are well placed diagonally in the composition from the left. I like to discover many nice details in the photo too, like the old fire hydrant. sehnsucht nach Portugal. ich liebe diesen Viertel von Lissabon, alte architektur, enge gassen, farben und duefte...und eine atmosphere, die kaum in einer gewissen zeit zu platzieren ist!

A very colourful image with the Portugese colours inside on the decoration.

Hallo Ulf,
I remember well the moment you shot this one. It's another great example of your special skill for taming these complicated light situations, with sun bathing walls that were white in the past :-) and much of the image in the shadow. You used very nicely the colourful decorations, plants and the presence of the boy with a red shirt matching the fire hose. It's a wonderful catch of Alfama, actually the best one in the "Lisboa-Alfama" gallery.
I wish I had more time to spend with you and your family. It was really pleasant to meet you in person.

yes, this is just about colours! Interesting site. How could you find a boy wearing red clothes? He fits pretty well in here. I also like the exposure even in this shadowed area. Very fine work!

So you've been to Portugal, good idea as it is a very attractive country with friendly people. There must have been some kind of celebration taking place to have these decorations with the national colors that are very festive btw, nice little corner.

Hi, Ulf -

I feel this photo should be too cluttered, but somehow it works. I think it's the splashes of red that tie it together, along with the streamers are all gathered together in the upper right, which gives it a unity it otherwise would not have had, and also reinforces the diagonal line of the house.
